Dr. Mahbuba Akhter is a highly accomplished medical professional with extensive expertise in
Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She holds an FCPS from the Bangladesh College of Physicians
and Surgeons (BCPS) and completed her MBBS from Sher-E-Bangla Medical College.
Dr. Mahbuba has a distinguished career history, serving in various capacities in prestigious
medical institutions. Notably, she currently holds the position of Associate Professor and Head
of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Marks Medical College and Hospital. Prior to
this, she served as a Consultant at the Centre for Woman and Child Health, contributing
significantly to womens healthcare.
Her commitment to education is evident through her tenure as an Assistant Professor and Head
of Department at City Medical College & Hospital. Dr. Mahbuba’s diverse professional journey
also includes roles as a Registrar at Apollo Hospitals, Lecturer at the Armed Forces Medical
College and Medical Officer at Monowara Hospital and Islami Bank Hospital.
She has received extensive training in obstetrics and gynaecology, including a Diploma in
Medical Ultrasound from Shristy Institute, a dissertation Training program, Essential Obstetrics
and newborn care course, TOT on baby-friendly hospitals and residency training at prominent
medical institutions.
Notably, Dr. Mahbuba has made significant contributions to medical literature through her
publications in esteemed journals, showcasing her expertise and research acumen. Some of the
focus topics include Contraceptive Practice and Associated Factors, The Role of Soluble
